Hello! My name is Jordan Barrows, and I am a junior studying Biochemistry and Molecular and Cellular Biology. I came down to Tucson from Helena, Montana, where I was born and raised, and have been enjoying the warm weather here since then. I am currently working in the lab of Dr. Daniela Zarnescu through the Undergraduate Biology Research Program (UBRP) studying the effects of ALS on glucose metabolism using fruit flies as a model organism. Being a part of this program has been a highlight of my time at UA, as it has provided the opportunities to engage with a broad community of up and coming scientists and to explore the world through a plethora of different lenses. Following my graduation next spring, I hope to enter a graduate school program in a field similar to those that I am working in now to pursue a doctorate degree and begin a career in research and academia.
